Margate Pride 2026: dates, parade, events

Margate Pride returns on Saturday, 8 August 2026, marking its 10th anniversary with the town’s biggest LGBTQIA+ celebration yet. The day is free to attend and forms the highlight of a month-long festival running from Friday, 31 July through August, featuring exhibitions, performances, workshops and community events across Margate.

The celebrations centre on a grassroots, community-led approach, free from corporate sponsorship, offering a joyful and inclusive space for all ages. Attendees can expect music, performances, storytelling, rallies and family-friendly activities, alongside the iconic Pride March along the seafront.

From the early morning family event at Walpole Bay Lawns to the March through the town and the main Pride celebration at Dreamland Scenic Stage, Margate Pride 2026 promises a day of visibility, solidarity and LGBTQIA+ joy.

Pride Events

Family Morning at Walpole Bay Lawns – 8 August, 10:00am–1:00pm
A laid-back, family-friendly start with storytime, family choir, Baby Rave, Silly Olympics, picnics, speeches, info stalls, and music. This is also the gathering point for the Pride March.

Youth Pride @ Dreamland – 8 August, 2:30–4:30pm
Activities and performances for ages 13–24, including crafting, workshops and social space for young people.

Pride March

The Pride March begins at Walpole Bay Lawns at 1:00pm, following a one-hour route along the seafront to Dreamland. Attendees are encouraged to join in solidarity, protest and pride. The march is inclusive of all ages and encourages participation from dogs in Pride attire. There are no floats, political parties or corporate sponsors—just community.

Pride Festival

The main Pride celebration takes place at Dreamland Scenic Stage from 2:00–6:00pm. Free to enter, the afternoon includes live music, DJs, drag and cabaret performances, community stalls, a wellbeing space, and the alternative beauty pageant Mx Margate. Visitors are welcome to bring their own snacks and drinks, and accessible facilities are available on-site.

Speakers at Dreamland include Peter Tatchell, The Dyke Project, Everyday Racism, Nion Women, Sue Sanders, Dr Ronx, Charlie Condou and Canterbury Womens March, sharing work and advocacy for the community.
